Skiing & Snowboarding

Our ski and snowboard trips are perfect whether you are a beginner or a pro, on your own, with your other half or with a group of  friends.

Come and join us on one of our small group trips. We get a good mix of guys and gals, skiers
and snowboarders of all abilities.
This will be our tenth season in Morzine in the French Alps and we love the area for its vast range of slopes for all abilities, beautiful scenery and lively après scene.

If you just like to get out and do stuff, you’ll fit right in. It’s a great way to have an awesome holiday, meet likeminded people and come home with some new friends. Come on your own – most of our guests do, so you won’t be the only one! Our friendly groups are small – never more than 14, which is intimate enough to get to know people, but big enough to feel like a good gang!

We know from experience that it doesn’t take long before everyone is getting on as if they’ve known each other forever. Sometimes we ride out together, sometimes we’ll just meet for lunch and a glass of vin chaud in the sunshine.

Everything is laid back and you can do as much or as little as you like.

  • Shared accommodation in Chalet Skade or Chalet Hubert
  • Breakfast every morning (think porridge, cereal, fresh baguettes, toast, fruit, eggs) including a hot option each day and full fry-up on one morning
  • Raid the fridge policy. Feel free to make yourself a packed lunch for the mountain, and there are always snacks, biscuits, crisps and cakes available. Get your energy back up after a hard day on the slopes with fresh waffles.
  • Five evenings each week our chalet team prepare a simple but wholesome and tasty three-course dinner and there will be loads of it!
  • Unlimited tea, coffee, hot chocolate, soft drinks, beer, cider and wine (alcohol with meals)
  • Live-in HOFNAR hosts who do everything from cooking breakfast and keeping the chalet clean to preparing dinner and leading the all important aprés ski!
  • Benefit of staying with a small group of likeminded people, in a laid-back chalet where you can raid the fridge, wander around in your pyjamas, make yourself at home – and there are no kids!

  • Flights are not included – just need to get yourself to Geneva airport
  • Transfers from/to the airport. We can easily arrange this for you at a cost of £80pp return
  • Ski/board hire. We have a deal with a local shop for 20% off. There are different grades of kit you can rent but you should expect to pay about £135
  • Lift pass. Most people opt for the all-area pass which gives access to the vast Portes du Soleil region. You can also get local passes and beginner options. Get in touch for more information, or to let us know which you want – we can have them waiting for you in the chalet so you don’t have to queue!
  • Lessons. We can arrange these for you, from around £150 for a week’s worth of group lessons. We can also arrange private lessons and guides.
  • Insurance. Essential! Do make sure it has ‘winter sports’ cover and if you’re hoping for some extreme action, check it covers you for the parks and off-piste
  • Two evening meals per week. Usually we go out as a group to local restaurants on the first and last evenings. Everything is a little flexi, and we’ll find somewhere to suit everyone’s budget.

We have two amazing chalets in Morzine. (And we also have a few weeks at our mates in a third chalet)

Chalet Skade – 13 beds
This has been our home for the last six years and is an awesome chalet, with a slightly younger feel – we try to encourage our twenty and thirtysomething guests to choose this place.

There are two twin/double rooms and three triple rooms. It has a log fire, pool table, sauna and hot tub in the garden. It is about a 7-minute walk away from the Super Morzine lift, 9 minutes from the village centre and 10 minutes from the Pleney lift. There is also a village shuttle bus that stops outside the door. Read more ->

Chalet Hubert – 12 beds
This was our brand new addition for 2018/19, with 6 twin/double bedrooms, all en suite. With underfloor heating throughout, a great sound system, flash internet TV and a slightly superior offering to that in Chalet Skade, this is an epic place to stay. Located above the hire shop we use, and just 30 seconds from the Super Morzine lift and 3 minutes from the Pleney lift, Hubert is fantastically located. Read more ->

Chalet Armaillis – 14 beds

We have a couple of trips lined up here. Bang in the centre of town and kept in great shape by long standing friend of HOFNAR, Maryline… in fact it was here that HOFNAR first started. Newly appointed and with a sauna, this is a great place to stay; there are twin/double rooms and also same sex 4 person rooms.

The beautiful small town of Morzine is located in a valley in the French Alps, at the very heart of one of the largest ski resorts in the world – the Portes du Soleil. (Check out the pistes maps here)

Just 1hr and 20 minutes from Geneva it one of the easiest and quickest ski resorts to get to from the UK.

This historic mining and farming town has avoided the ugly tower blocks that blight many of the French resorts and remains a ‘real’ French town with a market on a Wednesday morning and a year-round population.

There are loads of shops and quite a few bars. It’s not exactly Ibiza but there is definitely a good aprés scene with loads of live music and new for winter 2019 the famous Folie Douce is opening up in neighbouring Avoriaz.

We ask for £100pp non refundable deposit to confirm your place, with the balance due 6 weeks before your trip.

If you are entitled to Mate’sRates then you get £50 off.

We are using the same Covid policy as last year: Read it here before booking
