Kitesurfing in the red sea

Hofnar > Summer > Kitesurfing in the red sea

3 – 10 October 2026

This October we’re swapping chalets for catamarans and heading off on a proper kite safari adventure

We’re teaming up with the legends at Sick Dog Surf for a week of kitesurfing, sunshine, island hopping and living on a boat somewhere warm and ridiculously beautiful.

Join the group chat to get involved, but…

The plan?

Spend the week cruising between remote islands in the Red Sea, chasing the best wind conditions and kiting straight from the boat

Expect:
☀️ warm flat-water lagoons
🌊 daily kitesurfing sessions
🏝️ remote beaches & island stops
🍻 sunset beers on deck
😎 swimming, snorkelling, music & boat life chaos
🍽️ freshly prepared meals onboard
🌅 waking up somewhere different most mornings

Whether you’re already into kitesurfing or looking to learn properly from scratch, this trip is designed to be super fun, social and laid-back.

The Sick Dog crew provide coaching, rescue cover and guidance throughout the week, so it works for a mix of levels — from complete beginners through to experienced riders looking to progress their riding.

And because this is HOFNAR… expect plenty of laughs, questionable dance moves and a very social atmosphere once the kites come down

We’re keeping the group intentionally small, so spots are super limited.

** This trip is entirely run by Sick Dog Surfing and your booking will be directly with them. Lou from HOFNAR is going along to add the vibes and bring some HOFNAR flair.**

We’re staying on a boat!

For this trip we’ll be living onboard the Galaxy 720 — a 42 metre liveaboard yacht designed specifically for kite and dive safaris in the Red Sea

Originally built in 2009 and fully refurbished in 2025, the boat is seriously impressive and perfectly set up for a week of chasing wind, exploring islands and living the full kite safari life.

Spread across 3 decks, the yacht accommodates up to 24 guests in 9 cabins and 3 suites, all with air conditioning and private bathrooms. There’s a large indoor dining and lounge area, loads of deck space for relaxing in the sun and plenty of room for post-kite beers at sunset

And very importantly… the food is apparently unreal

Cabins

The yacht accommodates up to 26 guests across 13 cabins.

All cabins include:
✅ air conditioning
✅ private bathrooms
✅ comfortable twin/double layouts

Seven cabins are located on the lower deck, with the remaining cabins on the upper deck.

There’s also a huge sea-view saloon and dining area in the middle of the boat — ideal for chilling out, eating together and reliving the day’s kite chaos

What the week looks like

Saturday — Arrival Day

Fly into Hurghada and meet the crew before heading to the boat.
Settle into your cabin, meet everyone onboard and either relax with dinner and drinks on the boat or head into Hurghada town for the evening 🍻

Sunday — Abu Mungar

The boat leaves the marina early morning and heads to Abu Mungar — the first kite spot of the week.

Warm flat water, perfect conditions and the ideal place to kick things off properly.

Monday — More Time on the Water

A full day kiting in Abu Mungar before cruising over to Geisum at sunset.

Expect lots of riding, swimming, eating and generally settling into boat life

Tuesday — Triple Session Day

Early morning kite session before breakfast followed by two more sessions later in the day.

A LOT of time on the water and usually where people make huge progression.

Wednesday — Ashrafi Lagoon

The boat heads to Ashrafi — one of the most incredible spots of the week.

Huge shallow lagoons, crystal clear water and loads of space to practice new skills or just cruise around.

Thursday — Ashrafi Adventures

Another full day riding around Ashrafi.

Kite, eat, swim, repeat

Friday — Downwinder Day

The final big day on the water.

An epic downwinder back towards Geisum before returning to the marina for the final evening together.

Last dinner onboard… or one final night out in Hurghada

Saturday — Departure Day

Time to say goodbye

Transfers are arranged back to the airport (or to your hotel if you’re extending your trip).
