Llangollen (pronounced Clan-goth-len) is a cute little town just inside the Welsh border and just 3.5hours from London.
This is the perfect antidote to London life and a brilliant way to celebrate the easing of Covid restrictions.
Friday evening – Either meet us in Hammersmith after work or we’ll see you there. We are headed to our own private camping field just outside of Llangollen and right next to the river.
The guys from Bearded Men Adventures (BMA) will have the fire roaring and the beers chilled for when we get there and the bell tents set up ready for us to get our glamp on! Around the fire we’ll talk more about the weekend ahead and the activities involved.
Saturday – Today we’ll spend all day on the River Dee and the Shropshire Union Canal in Canadian two person canoes. We’ll be looking for Kingfisher, Herons and if we’re really lucky we might see the otter chasing after brown trout.
Saturday evening – We’ll head into Llangollen and eat at The Corn Mill, this pub has a superb position right next to the river and is the best place in town for us to wind down and regale in our adventures of the day.
Sunday – In the morning we’ll head just north of LLangollen to Eglwyseg valley where there all kinds of spots to climb and abseil. There are routes going up to 6c (if you know about climbing) but the BMA team will set you up and (quite literally) show you the ropes if you haven’t climbed before.
In the afternoon we’ll head back to the river – under the gaze of Llangollen itself is a nice set of rapids which bounce through in big rubber tractor-tyre-size rings. This is SO MUCH FUN and has you laughing from start to finish.
We will leave Llangollen heading back to London at about 4pm.
When you get back into the office in London on Monday morning and people say ‘do anything nice this weekend’ you are going to have SO much to tell them.
